Being a parent can be one of the most exciting, joyful and meaningful experiences in life.  However, parenting can also be stressful, frustrating, confusing and exhausting.  Family Connections Counseling Services LCSW, P.C. provides weekly parenting groups to help parents navigate the most important job in their lives.

Groups are organized by the ages of children and provide developmental information as well as insight into the emotional work it takes to be a thoughtful parent.  Each group is led by a certified clinical psychotherapist.  The group provides a venue for parents to explore developmental issues as well as gain a sense of camaraderie and support of other parents who are experiencing similar issues.

Parenting Through Divorce

Divorce adds a whole new set of complications to the already difficult task of parenting.  Group members gain the emotional support and education needed to help families go through the divorce process and ultimately build a new family life.  

Group members will:

• Meet peers who are also experiencing divorce.

• Learn how to explain divorce to your child.

• Understand your child’s emotions.

• Balance your own needs with the needs of your child.

• Learn to parent with your ex-spouse in the best interest of your child.

• Learn to navigate the legal system.
